Edinburgh news - The octopus and the birthday suit

By Iain Buchanan • Aug 26th, 2008 • Category: news

- Three sailors were rescued from their stricken yacht on the Forth this morning after striking a mystery object in the water. Probably a rock, but possibly an angry starfish throwing octopus? (no)

- A heroic OAP retrieved stolen money from a thief at an Edinburgh venue, but was left shaken. No, not Sean Connery, but Vera Alexander, 81. He’d probably be less stirred.

- The Scots Music Group are to protest in a musical fashion outside the Scottish Parliament building after the Scottish Arts Council cut their funding. Surely then it should be them who get the protesting?

- Since plans for closure were revealed in June, the number of pupils at Bonnington and Lismore Primary Schools has dropped by half, as parents shop around to find replacement places.

- And news from north of the river: A middle aged man is sought by police in Fife after wandering about East Neuk beach on Sunday, sans clothing. Nothing like a stroll to get you closer to nature. Brisk!

  1. As Sunday was the first full sunny day in a month, the guy taking advantage of it on the beach seems to me just a very wise man, taking advantage of opportunities….:)
